"Fantastic Cottage in Beautiful Location. Had an absolutely lovely week staying in The Gardener's Cottage. The property was a perfect base from which to explore the local countryside. It was very clean, well equipped and spacious. The views were amazing and it was lovely to look across to the Cheviots after a day out walking amongst them. We would highly recommend the short walk to Ingram where there is a lovely cafe as well as a trip to Ad Gerfin distillery in Wooler. Richard and Fiona were fantastic hosts and were there to provide information about the local area as well as answer any of our questions. We were made to feel like friends and would love to return in the future."

"We were looking for a cottage with a view - and we found it in 'Gardener's cottage'. Beautiful views across to the Cheviots with amazing sunsets and sunrises. Very high spec, recently renovated cottage which was warm and spotlessly clean. Richard and Fiona were helpful and attentive - but not 'in your face'! Wildlife in abundance including the Barn Owl. Lots to do in this lovely area so would be worth a second visit."

"September Stay. Arrived in good time and Cottage was ready, very warm and welcoming and very clean. Good parking facilities close to Cottage. Owners were very nice and clear on use of the Cottage and the various appliances and provided a welcoming hamper with main essentials, milk, bread, etc. They were also very helpful with local information and places to visit. Our stay was great despite the weather and the cottage proved a good location for visiting the local area, sights and towns. Thoroughly recommend the Cottage and the Owners."

"The cottage was well designed and tastefully set out with views to the Cheviot hills. We really liked this beautiful cottage and its quite location. Set in an area equal distance to the hills or the coast and in great scenery. The cottage has a quiet, private garden and the views look out to the Cheviots."

"My partner and I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Gardeners Cottage the welcome from Richard & Fiona was exceptionally warm and friendly, excellent balance of assistance and local information if needed along side plenty of privacy for the stay. The locality is stunning and if you are thinking of visiting Northumberland I would recommend using this as your bolt hole for the duration from where you can visit some great coastal & country destinations that are a short car journey away. Also the village pub 'The Plough Inn' which has just re-opened is just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. Our stay was to visit family locally and this accommodation was ideal to do that, excellent."

Set in a fantastic location with uninterrupted views of the countryside. Richard and Fiona are great hosts and nothing was too much trouble, lots of recommendations and helpful tips and advice of where to visit. Five star all round. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks again"

"Myself and my partner really enjoyed our stay. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful with an excellent view of the stars on a clear night - our host generously provided binoculars for the views and a few welcome treats that were a nice surprise. The cottage was in excellent and clean condition, with modern decorations and fittings. Richard is a friendly and welcoming host who gave us many recommendations of places to visit. We're already planning to come back in the future! Dan and Beki."

"Another lovely weekend! Our second visit to Fiona and Richards Gardener's Cottage and it was another splendid time spent here! It is such a calm , beautiful, peaceful place . Fiona and Richard are great hosts and are very happy to help with any questions you might have! And we very much appreciated the welcome pack, we could just drop our bags, put the kettle on and have a delicious coffee or tea with a biscuit sitting comfortably, enjoying the scenery and wildlife! Great walks not far from the cottage and then Alnwick is good for shops, restaurants and bars. Alnmouth another great place to visit with the beach walks plus much, much more on the beautiful Northumberland Coast."

"Totally amazing in every way. Simply stunning property, which now shares ‘joint first’ in our estimation of all other properties we have stayed in. (The comparable one was in New Zealand.) Beautifully decorated, luxurious beds, gorgeous views, wonderful extras - like the little hamper of local goodies and the telescope to stare at the dark starry skies - and, of course, the extremely helpful, friendly and humorous hosts, Richard & Fiona. We had a fantastic time."

"Upon arrival we were greeted by our lovely hosts Richard and Fiona. The accommodation was delightful, fully equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings and the welcome pack was delicious too. The cottage setting is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for both walking and visiting the delights the area has to offer. This was our first visit to Northumberland and we managed Amble, Warkworth, Alnwick Castle, a brief glance at Lindisfarne ( Tides) and Bamburgh Castle. Richard’s suggestions for two places to eat evening meals were excellent. We had the opportunity to look at the other two cottages available and were truly impressed. We have stayed in many airbnbs ( all were super hosts) and this property has surpassed all the others. We hope to return soon and will definitely recommend to family and friends."

"We stayed in the Gardeners Cottage, Powburn in the Northumberland countryside recently. The cottages itself was beautifully presented, clean, warm and comfortable and had a private veranda overlooking a gentle steam which was a great place to view the abundant local wildlife. There was also the chance to view the stars through an astro telescope which was a lovely extra touch. The cottage is ideally situated for local walks in the cheviott hills as well as being within easy travelling distant to the tourist attractions of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Craister and many more. The hosts, Richard and Fiona were very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. All in all, a little gem of a cottage that we would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends. We hope to visit again in the not to distant future."

"Beautifully portrayed but outshone by reality, boasting picturesque landscapes and proximity to nature. Nearby, there are splendid routes ideal for walking and cycling, offering opportunities for exploration and immersion in the tranquil natural surroundings. There is even a bicycle and boot room with a bicycle repair station, which is secure and conveniently close to the cottages. We throughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Northumberland cottages."

"Gardener''s Cottage is amazing. I had a lovely relaxing break in Gardener's Cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil setting with amazing views over the Cheviots. Conveniently situated for easy access to Alnwick the coast, Cragside and walks in the Ingram Valley The Cottages are immaculate and very tastefully decorated to create a calming environment. The owners have thought of everything to facilitate a relaxing self catering experience. I will certainly be back."

"The accommodation was first class, spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. The location is perfect- lots of trails for walkers and only a short trip to Alnwick with all of its attractions. We drove to visit Floors Castle which was only 40 minutes away. We ate out in Chatton one evening but if you wanted to cook you have all the amenities you need. Hosts Richard and Fiona were very attentive and on hand if you need help or advice. We had such a relaxing weekend - I’m sure the beautiful views and the peace and quiet helped! "

"A bit fed up with suburban winter I recently decided to escape to the country for a short interlude. I found Gardener's Cottage to be just what I needed. There was no improvement in the weather but that didn't detract from my enjoyment and the view over the fields to the grazing sheep was compensation. I was even treated to a private visit from an early evening owl who landed on a fence post just outside my lounge window. The cottage was all I had hoped it would be. It was well appointed, thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. Just what the doctor ordered for a much-needed pick-me-up and Richard and Fiona could not have been more helpful. I shall certainly be back to experience the beautiful surroundings in more clement weather. "

"Just spent the best four days in Northumberland staying at Northumberland Cottages at Breamish House. What a stunning place to stay whist exploring this beautiful part of the world. What I loved about the cottages was, whatever you chose to do, they had it covered. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, bird watching or just relaxing, they’ve thought of everything you’d need. Our cottage was wonderful: they had thought of everything. It was so warm and toasty that we didn’t want to leave. The location is perfect as it’s close to all the wonderful places-castles, coast and crab-then it was back to our ‘home from home’ for the evening. The cottage was beautifully finished to a really high standard and the views from all our windows were gorgeous. It was the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had. Couldn’t fault a thing. Thank you so much Richard and Fiona. We’ll be back."

"We stayed in Gardener's Cottage a few weeks before Christmas and it was just what we needed before the festive rush! The cottage is quiet and relaxing, and the attention to detail is amazing. It is beautifully decorated, and we really appreciated the little festive touches too. It is well appointed, with everything we would need in the kitchen etc, and was spotlessly clean. The location is also perfect, a stone's throw from Alnwick and not too far to drive to the coast too. The views from the cottage itself are incredible, even if you wanted to stay in and relax! Huge thanks to Richard and Fiona, who were wonderful hosts and made sure we had a fabulous stay. We will definitely be back."

"There are not enough words to describe how amazing the Gardeners Cottage was! It was perfect in everyway. The cottage was pristine inside and out. Fresh and clean and felt like a home away from home. For us it was in and ideal location to local towns as well as the national park (literally next door). The views were incredible and Richard and Fiona were just amazing!"

"What a gem of a find. We stayed in The Gardeners Cottage for one glorious week towards the end of November. One of our favourite parts of each day whilst staying there, was to wake up in the morning, pull the curtains and be greeted by stunning views, over fields & hills covered in a light dusting of snow and flocks of wild birds flying by from the nearby bird sanctuary. Not a single house or car in sight and only the occasional dog walker. It was incredibly peaceful & tranquil and simply made you wish you lived there permanently. The cottage itself has a large open plan living, kitchen & dining room. The bedroom is spacious with an extremely comfortable bed and an adjoining en-suite. All are beautifully decorated and fully fitted out with everything you could possibly need. Our stay coincided with a particularly cold and snowy spell, but the cottage itself was warm and cosy. Location wise, it is perfect. Powburn is a small village with just the one pub & petrol station ( complete with its mini-shop and post office ). It has easy access by car to all the surrounding Northumbrian beauty spots and places of interest - Alnwick, the Northumbrian Coast, Craster, Alnmouth, Bamburgh Castle etc etc. There’s lots to explore. Equally, there’s plenty to do locally. Personally what we enjoyed the most was just simply walking out of the front door and up towards Breamish Valley with its ancient stone circles & on the way treating ourselves to a warming cup of coffee and some homemade cake in the charming Ingram coffee shop. As for Richard & Fiona, they were the perfect hosts, incredibly kind and friendly. They couldn’t have been more helpful, whilst at the same time not being intrusive. We will definitely be staying there again."
